, ,Northeast Missouri Electric Power Cooperative (Northeast Power) has an immediate opening for an Assistant System Operator Manager at the Palmyra, Missouri, location. Northeast Power is a transmission cooperative delivering power to northeast Missouri and southeast Iowa.
This is an exempt position and requires residency within 30-minutes of the Palmyra headquarters. Standard work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and are subject to change. Shift work, working evenings, weekends and holidays, are possible. Subject to 24-hour call and must be available to come to work on short notice or access laptop computer during system emergencies.
What You Will Do:
This position will operate the Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) system that monitors the electric transmission system from 12.5 kV up to 345 kV in Missouri and Iowa. This position will maintain a high level of communication with field personnel regarding routine activities, as well as emergency power outages, during both day and evening hours. In addition, you will:
- Document, maintain and coordinate activities as assigned such as approve employee timesheets, schedule coverage for shift work and leave time for the department, coordinate scheduled outages and review switching orders
- Contribute to the development of procedures for department processes as well as develop and administer department training
- Perform SCADA maintenance and site commissioning
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations in the absence of the System Operator Manager
What We Are Looking For:
We are looking for someone who has the innate ability to exercise independent judgement and work in emergency situations with speed and accuracy. This role requires a safety-conscience, detail-oriented individual who has a thorough knowledge of electrical power systems. In addition, we are looking for:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Two-year technical degree in electrical engineering or related technology preferred
- NERC Transmission Operator Certification, or higher, required
- Minimum 4 years related experience or System Operator; Possess a thorough understanding of 69 kV and 161 kV electric transmission and substation systems
- Experience operating the SCADA system for switching, isolating problems, breakers, motor operated line switches, raising and lowering voltages
- Highly analytical and resourceful with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experienced with personal computers, utilizing Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Planner, SharePoint, Power Apps and Power BI
