Northeast Missouri Electric Power Cooperative (Northeast Power) has an opening for a Construction Intern at the Palmyra, Missouri, location. Northeast Power is a transmission cooperative delivering power to northeast Missouri and southeast Iowa.

This is a paid summer internship starting in May 2026 and ending in August 2026. The standard work schedule follows a 4-day, 10-hour shift, Monday through Thursday. Some flexibility in workdays and hours may be required based on project needs and assignments.

What You Will Do:

This internship provides a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in construction and site development. As a Construction Intern, you’ll work directly alongside skilled professionals and contribute to critical tasks that support safe and efficient field operations.

In this role, you will:

·         Assist with trenching and excavation tasks on active construction sites

·         Support conduit installation, including layout and alignment work

·         Help form and pour concrete for various site and infrastructure applications

·         Participate in fence installation, including measurement, post setting and assembly

·         Assist with general construction site preparation, cleanup and material handling

·         Learn and follow safety procedures and industry best practices

 

What We Are Looking For:

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dependable intern with a strong interest in construction and site work. This role is ideal for someone looking to build foundational skills in the trade. In addition, we are looking for:

·        Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a formal educational program, such as an Associate’s degree, certificate, or other recognized training program, related to Construction, Engineering Technology, Skilled Trades or a similar field

  •       Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred

·         Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks

·         Demonstrated reliability, teamwork and strong communication skills

·         Basic understanding of construction tools and safety practices

·         Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced crew members
